Feel the Fear, Lead Anyway: A Leader's Guide to Overcoming Procrastination
Oct 12, 2025
Good Morning, Goal-Getter!
When you find yourself avoiding the needle-moving tasks on your calendar—suddenly scrolling social media or running for a coffee—it’s usually not a time management problem. It's a signal.
The resistance you feel is often rooted in deep emotional fears: the fear of not being good enough, of letting people down, or even the paradoxical fear of being too successful and inviting a new level of pressure and visibility.
Here’s the truth: your brain is a survival machine. To your Inner Protector, anything that might risk social rejection or judgment can feel like a life-or-death threat. It’s trying to keep you safe in the herd. But as a leader building a heart-centered empire, you are called to step out of the herd.
Your work isn't to fight this fear, but to lead it with compassion. This is advanced Mind Management.
The next time you feel that pull to procrastinate, try this four-step process:
- Notice the Buffer: Acknowledge the urge to scroll, snack, or switch tasks without judgment.
- Identify the Fear: Ask yourself, "What feeling am I trying to avoid right now?" Let the real answer surface. Is it inadequacy? Embarrassment? The fear of being seen?
- Process the Emotion: Instead of stuffing it down, allow the feeling to be present for a moment. It's just a vibration in your body. Feeling it is what allows it to dissolve. I promise, it won't break you.
- Lead Your Brain: Once you've heard the signal, comfort your Inner Protector. "I hear you. Thank you for flagging this as scary. I want you to know we are safe, we are capable, and our worth is not on the line here."
Then, get back to the work your vision demands.
This is how you build resilience. It's how you move from being managed by your fear to becoming the leader of your own mind.
To your courage and your vision,
Stacie
